Bro. Christopher Razor

Alumni Spotlight | June 27, 2017

Bro. Christopher Razor received his Master's degree this month in Education, with a focus in Curriculum and Instruction in Urban Education from the University of Denver. He served as the Director of Education and was recently elected Vice President for Delta Delta Sigma.

One of the major reasons why Bro. Razor gravitated towards Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., was the positive work the fraternity was doing in the community. He yearned for the opportunity to become a part of a brotherhood where wisdom and perseverance helped drive the force of brotherhood, scholarship and service. He saw so many great men working, moving, serving, and loving their community, and joining Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. pushed him to maintain that same standard of excellence.

Originally from Dayton, OH Christopher was initiated into Alpha Omega Sigma Chapter located in Seoul, South Korea in the spring of 2013. Since then, he has been involved with two Alumni chapters: the Nu Phi Sigma Chapter | Dayton, OH and the Delta Delta Sigma Chapter | Denver, CO.

Three For The Founders... What are the three most important things that this organization has taught you?

"1. Brotherhood: Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. has shown me the value of having a strong and dedicated support system. In the four years that I have been a member, there have been multiple situations where I am certain I would not have overcome if it weren't for brothers checking on me, encouraging me, pushing me, and ensuring I had all I needed to be successful. Most recently, I had the support of my chapter as I worked toward obtaining my Master's degree. Brothers provided food, clothes, furniture, finances, and other necessities so I could concentrate on reaching my goal. I am honored to call the men of Sigma my brothers, wholeheartedly.

2. Best Performance of Duty: I have always taken pride in my work and accomplishments. Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. confirmed my purpose. The gifts and talents I have been blessed with are not for me to boast myself, but tasks me with the duty to better my community both personally and professionally. The work that I do no longer sheds a light into how I was raised, but how I improve myself on the daily basis. Who I was when I crossed in Spring 2013 is not who I am in 2017. Who I was just yesterday is not who I will be tomorrow. Sigma celebrates what I've done, but asks the question of "What's next?" as well. My job is never done.

3. Perseverance: Romans 5: 3-5 states, "There's more to come: We continue to shout our praise even when we're hemmed in with troubles, because we know how troubles can develop passionate patience in us, and how that patience, in turn, forges the tempered steel of virtue, keeping us alert for whatever God will do next. In alert expectancy such as this, we're never left feeling shortchanged. Quite the contrary—we can't round up enough containers to hold everything God generously pours into our lives through the Holy Spirit!" Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. has become aligned with my mental, physical, and spiritual walk. Every obstacle I face, I know I can conquer. There are flowers that grow even in the deepest and darkest areas. It is my goal to acknowledge the flowers in my life. As the hymn of our great fraternity states, Our Cause Speeds On It's Way! "
