Bro. Demetrius Watts, from Sacramento, CA, is a Gates Millennium Scholar and a 4th year student pursuing a degree in Human Development & Family Sciences with a minor in Business & Entrepreneurship at Oregon State University (OSU). Demetrius was initiated in the Spring of 2016 as an associate member of the Omicron Theta Sigma Chapter | Portland, OR. Bro. Watts currently serves as the chapter president of the Sigma colony and the National Pan-Hellenic Council OSU.

Bro. Watts has worked at the Lonnie B. Harris Black Cultural Center for the past three years and currently serves as a Leadership Liaison. When Demetrius is not busy with academics and work, he pursues his passion for barbering. Bro. Watts picked up his first clipper at the age of 12 and has invested in his craft ever since. He has established a name for being one of the best barbers in the OSU community.

For the last year, my line brother and I have been working hard to recruit and gain visibility on campus. Being the first and only 2 Sigmas on the yard, has not been an easy task, however, anything worth having must be worked for. We have hosted multiple events throughout the past school year and made our presence undeniable on campus. I finally became a prophyte this spring, on Friday, April 28th to be exact. We now have a total of four Brothers on the yard and ar looking forward to chartering a collegiate chapter at OSU in the Fall of 2017.

Three For The Founders... 1. Has your perspective on the Fraternity changed since initiation?

"My perspective has not changed. Before joining, I had known this organization contained men who are about their business because of the Sigmas I knew from my hometown, Sacramento. If anything, it has improved now that I am a Brother and can witness firsthand all the hard work that is invested by Brothers on the daily. I witness Brothers' work diligently in their own personal lives, and then give that same effort into Sigma business, and I try to adopt that same mindset. It is a challenge, but nothing worth having comes easy. I respect all that this organization believes in, and I am a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc."

2. Is there anything about our Fraternity that you would change?

"I would not change one thing about the fraternity. The history is so rich and each aspect holds deep meaning within the fraternity. Till this day, I am still learning things about my fraternity; it is a great experience that I would not trade for anything."

3. If you had the opportunity to go back in time and meet any man of Sigma who would it be?

"It would have to be Bro. Hosea Williams. I would want to pick his brain about his activism, business mindset, and philanthropy, as those are the areas I have focused on within my college career and wish to continue after graduation. He was truly a man dedicated to his work within the community. If I can develop even a fraction of the influence he commanded, I could improve many lives in multiple communities."
