Miss PBS Welcome Letter
Welcome to the Miss Phi Beta Sigma, Western Scholarship Pageant, and congratulations on taking your first step towards the title of Miss Phi Beta Sigma, Western Region. We will be presenting our biennial pageant on the campus of the University of Arizona at the Social Science Building located at 1145 E. South Campus Drive on Saturday, April 6, 2019, and are excited that you want to be a part of it.
The Miss Phi Beta Sigma Scholarship Pageant was founded in 1973, which celebrates the accomplishments of young collegiate women. This competition is not only based on beauty but also intelligence. As a Fraternity, we appreciate a woman’s worth and would like to show our appreciation in a respectful and dignified manner.
We are currently seeking ladies that exemplify the qualities of scholarship, elegance, style, and grace to represent the Western region as our Miss Phi Beta Sigma 2019-2021. Please take the time to read this letter and the entire contents of our entry packet. Please bookmark this information. It includes all of the information that you will need as a contestant, as well as information to help you as you prepare for competition. Please feel free to contact our pageant chairmen, Bro. Trent Joiner or Bro. Richard Johnson anytime you have questions and or concerns.
Participating in a Miss Phi Beta Sigma, Western Region Pageant is a wonderful and unique experience. You will gain poise and confidence, hone your interview and public speaking skills, make many new friends, and become a part of the largest scholarship organization for young women in the world. Our committee members work year round to make this experience and scholarship money available to you. Along with all that you will gain by becoming a contestant, there are certain expectations of you.
By submitting your application you are making a commitment to the Miss Phi Beta Sigma, Western Region Program. Once applications are received much of preliminary work is completed to accommodate you. Escorts are assigned, souvenir journals are designed, schedules for interviews and judge’s paperwork is printed. The time to make a thoughtful decision as to whether or not you will compete in the pageant is before you submit your application in!
