Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., in collaboration with the Housing Authority for the City of Los Angeles, The Los Angeles Police Department, Jordan Downs Center and El Nido Family Centers, were able to come together once again and support the 500+ kids in the Jordan Downs community with toys.
The goal has always been to help all families enjoy the spirit of Christmas even during difficult times. The Jordan Downs community was originally comprised of 700 units of traditional public housing in Watts, CA. In partnership with Bridge Housing and The Michaels Organization, the Housing Authority for the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) recently began a revitalization project in Jordan to create a more affordable housing for families and a better and safer community. “When completed, the community will have 1,569 new affordable and market rate housing units for families.”
Theta Alpha Sigma Chapter continues to demonstrate what conscious men actively serving their communities can accomplish. Thank you to all the brothers and sisters that participated especially our Regional Director of Social Action, Bro. Woodrow Bailey. “These are trying times, but Our Cause Speeds on its Way” stated Bro. Bailey.
Every child within the complex of the Jordan Downs community received a toy this year. Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Theta Alpha Sigma Chapter of Long Beach, CA, organizes and hosts this event every year. However, it could not be done without the amazing support from the Southern California Blue and White family, volunteers, the housing authority, Los Angeles Police Department, the Jordan Downs community and of course those that donated toys or made financial doantions to this great event. Thank you and Merry Christmas!
