Seattle Sigmas Adopt-A-Street Program
Seattke Sigmas continue to serve as a beacon of service as they strive to improve communities in the city of Seattle. Their 2017 Adopt-A-Street campaign kicked off in March, servicing Pratt Park and the Northwest African American Museum in the Seattle Central area. EES Dir. of Social Action, Bro. Shawn Leonard states, "We love coming to work out here. The Seattle area has provided for us and our families, it's only right that we give back."
The mission of the Adopt-a-Street program is to promote civic responsibility and community pride as well as to enhance Seattle's quality of life through clean streets and beautiful neighborhoods. The program was launched in the late 1980s and has gained national prominence as one of the most effective and efficient grassroots litter-removal initiatives. This is the chapter's second consecutive year volunteering in the program, and has plans to stretch their influence from the Seattle Metropolitan area to the greater Pacific Northwest.
